Henry (Hank) Edward Stuth, Jr. was born in Kingsville, Texas in 1938. His family soon moved to Robstown where he spent most of his youth working in his father’s grocery store after school and throwing an early morning paper route. They moved to Waco when he was a junior in high school, graduating from Reicher High School in 1957, earning his Eagle Scout award. He met his wife, Tommie Louise Trent in 1958, married in 1959 and were loving partners for the next 64 years.
After a year in San Antonio and the birth of their first child, they moved back to Waco where Hank attended Baylor University and two more children were born. Their lives were busy juggling young children, working and managing school. Hank proudly graduated from Baylor University in 1965 with a Degree in Business Administration. They moved to Houston where their 4th child was born.
Tyler became their home in 1973 where they became members of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and later Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he served as usher for many years. Hank eventually owned and operated his own Texaco Service Station and sold Saladmaster cookware at night hosting cooking presentations in guest’s homes. He has always loved working, meeting new people and helping others. After running the station for 10 years, he became a business partner with R & H Auto Supply and Anderson Automotive. Finally deciding to “retire” in 2007. He and Tommie built their retirement home at the lake. The family shares many memories of skiing, tubing and fishing.
Hank continued to be involved with community service serving on the Goodwill Board of Directors, United Commercial Travelers and President of East Shore Estates Homeowners Association. Hank came out of retirement after being asked by a former employee to come work at Meals on Wheels. He delivered to Canton and surrounding areas until he was 78 years old.
Hank and Tommie had four children. Hank was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia King. He is survived by his wife, Tommie; three children and their spouses, Ken and Michele Stuth, Clara and Paul Berndt and Michael and Teresa Stuth, and a son-in law, Stephen King. They were blessed with 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Hank is also survived by one sister, Marilyn Yalch of North Carolina.
A Rosary and visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Lloyd James Funeral Home. A Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Hank Lanik officiating. Burial will be at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Berndt, Nicholas Berndt, Ryan King, Ethan King, Jack Stuth, Kenny Stuth and Brandon Keys. Honorary pallbearers will be Colin King, Ty Keys, Tanner Keys, Morgan Skidmore, Nick Lusk and Eric Resendez.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County or to the Charity of your choice.
