Funeral services for George K. Mueller will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Lafser officiating. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at Lloyd James.
Mr. Mueller, age 93, a longtime resident of Tyler, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in Kingwood, having spent the previous two years in the loving care of his daughter, Charlotte. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 19, 1922, to the late George and Marie Mueller.
During and after World War II, Mr. Mueller spent two years in the U.S. Army and following that he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, graduating cum laude from the University of Chicago. He then went on to complete his work at the American Conservatory, receiving the degrees of Bachelor and Master of Music and won every award the Conservatory offered pianists. Then in New York he continued his piano studies with Mr. Frank Sheridan, noted New York pianist and pedagogue. There in 1951 he and Grace Mueller were married and their life together lasted nearly 43 years until Mrs. Mueller’s passing. He taught piano in Bismarck, North Dakota, Jackson, Tennessee and then became a full-time faculty member at Tyler Junior College for 24 years.
A wonderful dad, Mr. Mueller will be remembered as the loving, generous, and wise father who always put his family, particularly his children, first. His students remember him for his wisdom, kindness, and gentle humor. In his later years he loved to read and share his experiences with his son and daughter. He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte; son, Eric; daughter-in-law Katherine; two grandsons, Alexander and Konrad; and two great-grandsons, Ian and Jensen.
