Fred passed away January 29, 2019 in Tyler.
He was born on July 20, 1939 in Tyler to Fred Walker Cook, Sr. and Sadie Cannon Cook-Buckner. Fred went to John Tyler High School. He worked at Tyler Pipe for many years. He had many talents: boxing in the Golden Gloves, bowler, pool player, softball and fast pitch baseball player. Fred was a referee in Tyler, where he officiated basketball and football from 1970-1994. He was inducted into the Tyler TASO Hall of Fame in 2004. He was a deacon at Queen Street Baptist Church and was very active with the youth group and gave his testimony to many. Fred was well known as an excellent poker player and everyone loved his card and magic tricks.
He is survived by his daughter Traci Cook Lewellen; son-in-law David Lewellen; grandchildren Courtney (Matt) Hernandez, Spencer (Jessica) Lewellen, Adam (Sarah) Lewellen; siblings Linda (Helmer) Long, Richard Cook, and Floyd (Judy) McClannahan; nieces and nephews Keith (Jane) Long, Lisa (Kirby) Smith, Shawn Richardson, Shelley (Dewayne) Hunt, Charmagne (Todd) Barber, Tammy Cook, Stacy Miller, Dana (Robin) Ballard, Sharon (Tom) Attaway, Carey (Julie) Copeland, Bruce (Rhonda) Copeland and Scott (Maurnie) Copeland; and many great-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Alton McClannahan; nephews Shannon Richardson and Steve Long; and great niece Scarlet Smith.
