Funeral services for Fermin Peña Jr., age 79, of Grand Saline, Texas will be held Wednesday, October 16 at 2:00 pm at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday, October 15 from 6-8 pm. Fermin was born on January 5,1945 in San Benito, Texas to Fermin Sr. and Natividad Peña and passed away on October 7, 2024 in Plano, Texas.
Fermin served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 and received multiple awards after serving his country in the Vietnam War. He was employed for 30 years with AT&T (formerly Southwestern Bell) where he began his career as a splicer and retired as a Manager of Engineering Design. Some of his favorite hobbies were gardening and working on small engines. He will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene Peña; sons Joe Peña (Patricia), Bobby Peña (Angie) and Edi Peña (Kim); granddaughters Alyssa Peña and Amanda Peña; grandsons Ryan Peña, Kyle Peña, Sebastian Peña, Sean Peña and Diego Peña.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Carlos Peña, Rodolfo Peña, Pedro Peña, and Ruben Peña.
Pallbearers include Joe Peña, Bobby Peña, Edi Peña, Patrick Valadez, Kyle Peña, and Sean Peña.
Fermin will be laid to rest in Tyler Memorial Park, Tyler, Texas.
