Funeral services for Doris Perkins, age 88, of Tyler will be 2:00PM Saturday, December 13, 2014, in the Field of Honor Mausoleum chapel with Father Eugene Tillekeratne officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Born Doris Evelyn Hebert on October 22, 1926 in Groves, she was the only child of Nason and Minnie Hebert. Her childhood was spent in Groves, where she attended Port Neches Groves Schools. On February 11, 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Coy W. Perkins, Jr. in Biloxi, Mississippi, for the next twenty two years. She lived the life of an Air Force wife, moving from Mississippi to Texas, then Georgia, Arkansas, Okinawa and California before returning to Texas. She has lived in Livingston, Conroe, Trinity, and Lufkin. Except for two years in Shreveport, Louisiana, Doris lived in Tyler for the past thirty five years. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler. She enjoyed fishing, golfing and RVing; but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris passed from this life Wednesday, December 10, 2014, under loving care at Hospice of East Texas. Her son and daughter-in-law were with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 60 years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Debbie Perkins; two granddaughters and their husbands, Julie and Jason Westerman and Melanie and Robert Rivers; and grandson, Scott Perkins, all of Tyler. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Noah Whitworth; five great-granddaughters, Madison, Becca and Katie Westerman and Kristen and Emily Rivers, all of Tyler.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hospice of East Texas for the comfort, care, and compassion they provided during this time.
