Dee married her high school sweetheart, Ollie V. Drake, on July 15th, 1960, and they were married for 53 years at the time of Ollie’s passing in Feb 2014. Her greatest pride was their two sons, Ollie William (Toby) and James Walter (Butch). She was blessed with four grandchildren and four-great grandchildren with her first great-granddaughter due in November.
Dee was a teacher in the Hughes Spring ISD and Daingerfield ISD, retiring after 25 years of teaching in the public school system. Science was her favorite subject to teach and she especially enjoyed teaching her students about weather. Dee was always ready to travel, and Ollie made sure they got to see many places all over the world. Together, their adventures took them all across the United States and on cruises where they visited many different places and countries.
Dee is preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) F. Hinton and Louise Hinton; her sister, Patricia Haynes; her loving husband, Olli; her first born son, Toby, and her grandson, Kaleb.
Dee is survived by her son, James “Butch” and his wife Tracy; daughter in law, Dawn Drake Green; her grandchildren, Kevin, Quinn and Colten Drake, along with her sister, Margaret Ann Land and family.
Funeral services are planned for Friday July 22nd at Lloyd James Funeral Home at 10 am. A reception will follow, nearby at Green Acres Baptist Church in the Galilee room. The family would like for everyone to join them at the church for lunch. Dee will be laid to rest next to the love of her life Ollie at Cathedral in the Pines, Tyler, Texas.
