Clifton Richard Clough

Funeral services for Clifton Richard "C.R." Clough, 95, of Tyler is scheduled for Tuesday, March 15th at 11am at Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler with Neal Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for 10am Tuesday, March 15th at the funeral home.

Mr. Clough passed away on Friday, March 11th in Tyler.

C.R. was born on August 22, 1920 in Northfield, Vermont to the late Homer Clough and Nora Whitney Clough. He volunteered for service in the army in 1941 serving in the Pacific campaign in such places as Guadacanal and the North Solomon Islands. He later volunteered to become a member of an elite group known as Merrill's Marauders (forgotten boys) to fight in the jungles of Burma. He was awarded the American Defense Service Medal as well as the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. After leaving active duty he remained in the Army reserves until 1954 having obtained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He worked in sales and marketing for Morton Salt Co. retiring after 31 years of service. He was a founding member of University Church of Christ.

He is survived by son, Larry Clough and wife Mary Ann of Tyler; daughter, Jyl Ball and husband Earl of Chapel Hill; grandsons: Jared Clough, Dallas; Anthony Tigert, Omaha; Robbie Tigert, Cookville; Joshua Ball, Chapel Hill; granddaughters: Jessica Clough, Tyler; Erica Clough, Tyler; Kelsey Clark, New Summerfield and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arenia Williams Clough; two brothers and 3 sisters.

Pallbearers will be Jared Clough, Joshua Ball, Robbie Tigert, Anthony Tigert and Colton Clark.
