Alvin Jones, 92 of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in Tyler. Mr. Jones, a retired cattle rancher, was born on, July 19, 1924 in Tyler. He grew up and attended school in Gresham. Following high school he enlisted in the Air Force and served during World War II. Following his military service he worked as a salesman, then went into the timber business and also raised rodeo bulls; including several PBR bulls, one of which won bull of the year.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1958. He is survived by his wife, Frances Jones of Winona; son, Rodney Jones of McAllen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 Thursday; also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
