On January 21, 1946 Harvey and Eileen Quesnell became the proud parents to our beloved mother Leslie Ann Quesnell Schroeder. Like all adversity and obstacles in her life, she faced her final challenge with courage, tenacity, and strength, leaving us October 15, 2016. True to the end, Mom’s loving and caring nature was the concern for her family and putting the needs of her boys before her own.
Mom joined her brother Joe and was followed by brothers Michael and Archie, along with little sister Marguerite to complete the Quesnell family. Being raised on the Quesnell farm was a unique experience where Mom learned to value family, hard work, and caring for others by being a motherly figure to her siblings.
Mom devoted her life to her sons: Joe, Nick, Tony, Gordy, and Luke. Being a single mother Mom broke the work force gender barriers to provide for her boys by being a licensed carpenter, aluminum welder, thirty years in the nursing home profession, and rounded out her career serving special needs children as a paraeducator.
Throughout the years Mom embraced many of our friends creating a vast extended family. As we grew and had families of our own, her grandchildren brought a tremendous joy to her life.
Mom is survived by her sons, Nick; Tony (Tracie) and children A.J and Averie; Gordy (Megan) and children Kessika, Sydni, Aliza, Ella, and Asher; Luke (Kelli) and children Jericho, Josiah, and Samaria; Joe (Necia) Lootens and son Trevor; brother Michael Quesnell and sister Marguerite Astorquia.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Eileen, infant brother Tommy, and brothers Joe and Archie.
Mom’s service will be Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. East, Twin Falls, followed by interment at Twin Falls cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a wake that will be held at Luke’s house at 5:00 PM following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Kimberly School Foundation in the name of Leslie Ann Quesnell Schroeder designated for scholarships for single mothers and individuals with exceptional challenges.
