Evelyn May Olsen

Evelyn Olsen, age 92, died Jan. 10, 2012, in Orem, Utah. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, Nov. 27, 1918, to Lawrence Alfred and Katherine Kempton Palmer. Evelyn was married to Niels Andrew Olsen of Kimberly, Idaho, Nov. 28, 1942. This marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland California Temple. He preceded her in death.

Evelyn represented the epitome of a gentlewoman. She graduated from George Washington University with a BS. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions. While she was Primary President and Relief Society President for many years, her favorite calling was visiting teaching. She loved her fellow human being and encouraged all to be kind and to remember the Lord in all things.

She is loved, honored, and survived by her children: Ane Karen Olsen DeVries of Louisville, KY; Marie Christine Olsen Reeve of Medford, NJ; and Niels Andrew Olsen, Jr., of Kimberly, ID, seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

A visitation for Evelyn will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 14, 2012 at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park" A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Twin Falls, Idaho.
