A Memorial Visitation will be from 11AM – 12 Noon, Friday February 3rd at Calvary Baptist Church Chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in June.
Virginia was born in Pennsylvania, but moved to Tuscaloosa at an early age. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1950. She attended classes at the University of Alabama and then worked and retired from Reichold Chemical Co. and later, Southfield Carton.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and served there for over 65 years in various teaching capacities. “Mimi or Aunt Ginny”, as she was affectionately known to her family, loved Jesus Christ, her family, her church family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Thomas Lockwood McVay; parents, Thomas and Naomi Scott; sister, Wilma Scott Greene; and brother, Harry M. Scott. She is survived by her sister, Ellen Scott Edwards, and loving daughters Bonnie McVay Teel Adams (John), Susan McVay Graves (Tim), grandchildren Marcia Teel Ridpath (Amaron), Ryan McVay Teel (Cindy), Thomas Hunter Graves (Dhiya), Kyle McVay Graves, and five great-grandchildren, Emily and Robert Teel, Frankie Ridpath, Kaidiin Ridpath and Johan Graves.
Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Teel, Robert Teel, Hunter Graves, Kyle Graves, Jay Greene, James Greene, John Adams, Rex Spruill and Tim Graves.
The McVay family is grateful for the assistance provided to Virginia by physicians and staff of DCH Regional Medical Center, Dr. Will McGee and the staff of Calvary Baptist Church, Brenda Truelove and the Truelove – Fidelis Sunday School Group of Calvary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
