A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at 12:00 pm, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. David Bonner and Rev. Greg Walker officiating. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will immediately follow from Memory Hill Gardens. Memory Chapel, a Dignity provider, is honored to be entrusted with final arrangements.
Mr. Cole was born April 06, 1935, to the late Catherine and Willie J. Cole, he served his country during the Korean Conflict while enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
A loving family man, “Buck,” as he was affectionately known, possessed a fighting spirit, love of land and family, and a hard work ethic that has empowered his entire family with an unquenchable desire to persist. Even in his eighties, he triumphed over limitations that would flatten lesser men.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lillie Ann Cole, and several siblings.
He is survived by his children: Sherre (Eric) Christian of Windham Springs, Larry Cole of Cottondale and Barry Cole of Alabaster; brother Rueben (Emma Jean) Cole of Tuscaloosa; sister Betty Coleman of Marion; grandchildren: Andrea Martin, Hunter Cole, Jeffrey Ray Cole, Joshua Eric Christian, Jonathan Webster Christian, Rhonda Carr, Rodney Christian, and Yancy Christian; and ten great-grandchildren.
Serving as Active Pallbearers will be: Jeffery Ray Cole, Darrell Fielder, Hunter Cole, Jonathan W. Christian, Joshua E. Christian, Rick Herring, and Rodney Christian.
The family wishes to recognize as Honorary Pallbearers: friends from Liberty Baptist Church in Duncanville, friends in Hickory, MS, friends at the VA Hospital, friends of Phifer Wire Products, friends of B.F. Goodrich, David Jones, Eric Christian, Joe Hollingsworth, Rick St. John, Marvin James, Aaron and Carol Greer, former Probate Judge Hardy McCollum and his wife Juanita, spouses of all Mr. Cole’s grandchildren, and the members of the Cole and Christian Families.
