Samuel Wilson Holder Sr., born on September 30, 1950 in Moss Point, Mississippi passed away at age 67 on August 14, 2018 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Sam was a graduate of Moss Point High School and the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. After working at Wurzberg Brothers in Memphis, TN for fifteen years, Sam spent two years in real estate development in Birmingham, AL, and later moved with his family to Gulf Shores, AL, where he owned the Perdido Pass Restaurant and Marina. Sam was an avid golfer, cherished afternoons cruising on the Gulf, and fiercely loved Ole Miss and Alabama football. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Willie-Mary Moore and George Wilson Holder, Jr., and his sister, Diane Holder Smith. He is survived by his former wife, Deborah Perrigin Holder; his two children, Samuel Wilson Holder, Jr. and Mary Katherine Holder; brother, William Thomas Holder; sister, Sara Holder Jackson; and eleven beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, AL.
