Ronald "Alan" Knight

Ronald “Alan” Knight, age 74 of Northport, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. Max and Viola Knight; four brothers, Dick, Robert, Brady, and Terry Knight, and two sisters, Peg Flippo and Frankie Franklin. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Anne Billings Knight; three daughters, Ashley Shivers (Brad) of Brandon, MS, Alison Sexton (Andrew) of Northport, AL and Amanda Rice (Clay) of Tuscaloosa, AL; six grandchildren, Meredith and Mallory Shivers, Blaine and Bentley Sexton, and Clayton and Kellyn Rice; one sister, Faye Samples of Leeds, AL; a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved four-legged sidekick, Rudy.

Born on April 20, 1948 in Guin, AL, he grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1967. He retired from Jim Walters Resources. He had a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and coaching girls softball. He loved being with his girls and all his grands. He enjoyed spending time at his hunting land which he called Fort Knox and his “little piece of gold.” We find comfort in knowing he met the Lord at his favorite place.

Visitation Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Northport Baptist Church followed by service at 2:00 p.m. Graveside will follow at Memory Hill Gardens with Reverends Tim Fields and John Jenkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Frankie Hamiter, Byron Sprayberry, Jim Hayes, Scott Knight, Trae Billings, Jon Billings, Mike Blythe and Clayton Rice, and Jerry Tidmore.
