Rebecca Smalley Keith (Becky), age 75 of Hope Hull, passed from this life on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the UAB Palliative Care Unit in Birmingham after a battle with cancer. Becky was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 21, 1947. She graduated from Ensley High School and attended the University of Alabama where she received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1970. After graduation, she moved to Montgomery and began working for the Department of Transportation (ALDOT). She worked there as a Professional Engineer in a number of different areas including the Bridge Bureau and Materials & Tests. She also worked for Quality Assurance Testing Laboratories in Montgomery for a number of years while her children were in school.
She met James Keith (Jim) at The University of Alabama and they married in 1971. They lived in Hope Hull for their 51 years of marriage. Becky was a faithful Christian and member of the Perry Hill Road Church of Christ where she and Jim attended for many years. She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, smocking, crafts, reading, baking and spending time with their dogs.
Becky is preceded in death by her husband Jim who passed away earlier this year. She is also preceded in death by her parents, M.E. and Jessie Mae Smalley as well as her brother, Johnny Smalley. She is survived by her daughter Kerri Michelle Keith of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; her son Warren Tucker Keith (Ashley Erickson) of Huntsville, Alabama; her sisters in law, Claudia Smalley and Carolyn Pearson (Newt); two nephews, and a niece.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Taylor Lakes Club House on Taylor Lakes Parkway in Montgomery, Alabama. Funeral will follow at 12:30 PM, Jason Cicero of Clifton, Virginia officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Warren G.
