Patricia "Pat" Sanders

Patricia Moss Sanders, age 79, died on February 22, 2023, surrounded by her family and love. Pat was preceded in Death by her husband of 58 years, Merrill “Buddy” Sanders. She is survived by her brother Dewayne Burkhalter (Jeanne), two sons; Greg Sanders (Polly) and Gary Sanders (Angie), six grandchildren; Eric Sanders, Blake Richard, Marina Richard (Jerome), Austin Horton, Nicholas Jones, and Lily Sanders, two great-grandchildren; Jesse and Julia Richard, and a best friend for over 60 years, Nedra Scott.

Pat was born in Pickens County and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where she spent her entire life. She was a proud mother of two children, and a doting grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy in life, and she always made sure to be there for them whenever they needed her.

Pat dedicated 38 years of her life to the University of Alabama, where she worked tirelessly before retiring. She was passionate about her job and always strived to make a difference in the lives of those around her. Her colleagues valued her contributions, and she was highly respected by all who knew her.

Outside of work, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, many hobbies through the years, gardening, and her trips to Brusly, Louisiana. She was a kind and generous person who always put others first, and her selflessness will never be forgotten.

Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Pat lived a full and meaningful life. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish her memory and carry her values forward. Rest in peace, dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. You will be deeply missed and deeply loved.

A visitation for Pat will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Memory Hill Gardens with Pastor Rick Mitchell officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Pall Bearers will be DeWayne Burkhalter, Greg Sanders, Gary Sanders, Eric Sanders, Nicholas Jones, and Lily Sanders.
