Ottis Kenneth Nelson

Ottis is preceded in death by his parents, Vester Roy Nelson and Katherine Blackwell Nelson; Sister, Sue Robertson and Marie Coal; Brothers, Dalton Blackwell, Donald Raulph and Perry, Michael, Dauphos, and Terry Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alene Nelson, Son, Donald P. Nelson (Christie Y. Nelson), 6 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Ottis Kenneth Nelson was born south of Jasper, Alabama. He was raised in Patton Hill, Alabama with his brothers and sisters. Kenneth graduated early from TCHS at the age of 16 in 1955. At the age of 17 he moved to Chicago, IL. to work with his brothers. At the age of 21 he came to Alabama to visit family and met the love of his life, Mary Alene Nelson. They married on June 21, 1960 and moved back to Chicago, IL. where they became parents to Donald P. Nelson in 1966. Kenneth was Vice President of Gasway in Chicago for 6 years. The small family moved back to Tuscaloosa in 1970. Kenneth Worked as a top machinist and plant manager until he retired at 70 and resided in Coaling, Alabama until his death April 30, 2023. Kenneth and Alene were happily married for 63 years.

Honorary pallbearers are Spencer Nelson, Gentry Rosamond and Dylan, Preston, and Mason Garner, and Baron Machine in Birmingham, Alabama and Hospice of West Alabama.
