Odis James Holcomb

Odis James Holcomb, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 17, 2014.. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at Rosedale Baptist Church with Rev. Brannon Pinion and Rev. Louis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Maudie Holcomb; sisters, Maudine Osborn, Verna Mae Stateler, and Helen Simmons; and his brothers, Thomas Holcomb, David Holcomb, and Woodrow Holcomb.Survivors include his wife, Ila Faye Holcomb of Tuscaloosa; sons, James Wade Holcomb (Linda) of Tuscaloosa, Richard Odell Holcomb (Janet) of Tuscaloosa, Randy Lee Holcomb (Delana) of Duncanville and Ronald Myron Holcomb (Patty) of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Doris Vanoy (Preston) and Jerline Hubbard; brother, Hershel Holcomb; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Mr. Holcomb served in the U.S. Navy for four years from 1951 to 1955 at Norfolk Virginia USS Albany 123 heavy cruiser. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1991.Pallbearers will be Aaron Holcomb, Adam Holcomb, Brandon Johnson, Chris Sexton, David Skelton, Jonathan Holcomb, Josh Holcomb, and Trae Ballard.Honorary pallbearers are Brian Skelton, Caleb Holcomb, Hannah Kate Holcomb, Hayden Holcomb, Logan Johnson, Matt Skelton, Rosedale Baptist Church, and Amedisys.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rosedale Baptist Church.Condolences may be offered at www.memorychapelfuneralhome.com.
