Louise Carroll Perkins passed away on October 7, 2022. Louise was raised and living in Tuscaloosa, AL when she met and married Charlie Perkins of Perry County, AL. They settled in Tuscaloosa, had two sons and ran a family restaurant in Duncanville, AL. Later, she helped her husband administer his residential construction company and supported his later career as a supervisor in UA Housing Maintenance. She cheered on her husband’s bowling and softball teams and supported her children’s church, scout, athletic and school activities. Her many nieces liked going to see Aunt Louise since her backyard, many years ago, was right behind the Dari Queen. Louise was Godly woman and always put others first. She loved Jesus and was always helping others behind the scenes and made countless suppers and cakes for those who had surgery, new babies or just needed a special treat. She was a great Southern cook and was known for her delicious vegetable soup, fried corn and scrumptious cornbread. Cooking equaled love for Louise.
Louise loved talking on the phone frequently with her close friends, Faye, Ann-Lois and Elaine, and she would begin planning holiday dishes and celebrations with them, months in advance. Her niece, Joyce Perkins, lived with the family while she finished high school and nursing school. Because of their special relationship, Louise always considered Joyce “one of her own” and Joyce still regards Louise as another mother. Louise enjoyed her three grandchildren, often stopping all household tasks, in order to spend one-on-one time with each one of them as they cooked Jello, watched videos or sat on the porch and watched birds and other wildlife. In her later nursing home years, Louise enjoyed her warm interactions with Heritage facility staff and residents. She was known for her sweet spirit and kind nature and the family extends a special thank you to everyone who took such wonderful care of her.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Joyce Perkins Bowles of Tallassee, Alabama; sons, Randy (Sandra) Perkins and Dennis Perkins; grandchildren, Ryan Perkins, Lesley Perkins and Meg Perkins; great-grandsons, Lane and Michael. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Icie Carroll; husband, Charles Milledge Perkins; siblings, Letha Stone and Matt Green.
