Katherine Bennett Forsyth of Tuscaloosa died Jan. 23, 2012, at home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Kenneth Dunivant officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. A private family burial will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. George Forsyth; her son, Bennett Joiner; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bennett of Dothan.
Survivors include her daughter, Meredith Moore and husband Danny of Atlanta, Ga., and Judy Phipps of Tuscaloosa; her son, William G. Forsyth Jr. and wife Carole of Birmingham; her grandchildren, Blake Moore and wife Wendy of Alpharetta, Ga., Brannon Moore and wife Stacy of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Howard Burchfield and wife Connie of Hong Kong, and Julie Hayslip and husband Chris of Tuscaloosa; and her great-grandchildren, Cody Moore, Callie Moore, Caitlyn Moore, and Chloe Moore of Alpharetta, Ga., and Anna Hayslip and Alex Hayslip of Tuscaloosa.
Katherine was born in Dothan, Ala., where she lived until she moved to Tuscaloosa in 1966 when she married George Forsyth. She was a loyal member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Lee Class. She was a member of the Candor Study Club and the Skyland Garden Club and other organizations.
