Frances Cole Sartain, 88, of Northport passed away peacefully in her home on February 16, 2024. Visitation will be held at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Randy Fuller officiating.
Frances was born in Fayette County, AL and grew up in the Circlewood community in Tuscaloosa. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and attended the University of Alabama. She was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. “Mimi” was widely known for her cooking skills, particularly her poundcakes, peanut brittle, fig preserves and potato salad. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her husband (of 62 years), her family and the Atlanta Braves. Nothing thrilled her more than to see her great grandchildren burst through the door, give her a hug and dig into the candy jar.
She is preceded in death by her parents Vashti and William Cole Sr., her husband Oinest Sartain, brother William (Bub) Cole Jr. and great grandson Hunter Sartain Jr. She is survived by her son Ted Sartain (Kim), daughter Donna Hoffman (Wayne); grandchildren Hunter Sartain, (Andrea), Clay Sartain (Jesse), Laura Kirk (Robbie), Cole Kennedy, Tyler Elmore (Lacey), Lindsey Elmore; and ten great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Sartain, Clay Sartain, Cole Kennedy, Tyler Elmore, Doug Henry, and Jeff Kelly.
Honorary pallbearers are Barbara and Sam Shute, Lisa Horvath, Ann and Henry Hoffman, Gail Lett, Joanne Porter, caregivers: Tonya Robertson, Cassandra Simmons, Ginger Ward, Jamie Robertson, and Amedisys Hospice Care Team.
