TUSCALOOSA | Edward Norris (POP) Robertson, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, died December 28, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held on Tuesday January 2 with visitation from 10-11 am and followed by the service 11 a.m. at Memory Chapel with Rev. Larry Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider directing.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Willie Mae Robertson, his parents J. C. and Ruby Robertson; and brother James Fletcher Robertson.
Survivors include his son John Edward (Eddie) Robertson of Tuscaloosa; sister Geraldine Verhine Covington Ga.; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a life long resident of the Lake Nicol Community and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He Graduate from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1950 shortly after he joined the Army during the Korean War time. After getting out of Service he worked at the Central Foundry in Holt, Al and retired from Jim Walter Mines No. 7 mine in 1994. He loved to garden, fish, watch Alabama Girls softball and Alabama football, but his biggest passion was cutting the grass around his house. It was a common sight to see him out on his lawn mower with his straw hat and a cigar cutting grass. He will be missed greatly by all those that knew him.
Pallbearers will be Newel Wyres, David Grammer, Jonathan Grammer, William David Hamner, Johnny Hyatt and Richard Allen.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Piney Grove Baptist Church and neighbors of the Lake Nicol Community, friends from Central Foundry, Jim Walter Mines No.7, Dr. John Miller and nurses, Dr. Hill, Greg Hamrick and nurses from Cardio Consultants, Dr. Pedro Lopez and staff, Cardio Intensive Care Unit and nurses, Hospice of West Alabama and staff, Dr. Allen Averette and staff of Averette Veterinary Clinic and a host of friends and relatives.
Brother Larry Bonner will be officiating.
A visitation for Pop will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
