She worked at the Tuscaloosa Police Department as a school crossing guard for 20 years at Alberta Junior High, Arcadia Elementary and Eastwood Junior High. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Known as Mama Lou and MeeMee to so many, she loved children and caring for others. She prided herself in encouraging others by writing letters, making phone calls, and sending cards to those in need. She loved gospel music and singing alto in the church choir. She was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church followed by Circlewood Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Bryant Walker and Ollie Marguerite Shelton Walker, her brother Edward "Buddy" Bryant Walker, Jr., and her husband Russell Walter Fisher.
She is survived by her children, Sandi Sanders, Walter Fisher, and Debbie Duncan (James), all of Tuscaloosa, AL. She had five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Martha Sanderford of Meridian, MS.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. January 14, 2021, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation was held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Chapel with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider directing.
Pallbearers were Michael Williams, Hyle Sanders, Tommy Sanders, Chris Duncan, D.J. Guy, and Bobby Burt.
