She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward G. Davis; parents, Clements and Sarah Pitts Fair; her sister, Sue Fair Snead; niece, Dianne Snead Isbell and son-in-law, Andrew Hill.
She is survived by her daughter Andrea Davis-Hill, grandson Christopher Edward Hill; niece Deborah Snead Jordan-Canter, great nieces Morgan Snead and Emily Isbell, great-great nieces Kayleigh Jordan and McKenzie Jordan; nephew Hugh Snead (Shannon) and great-nephew Cason Jordan.
Anne grew up in the Forest Lake area of Tuscaloosa. She was a 1955 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and a graduate of The University of Alabama College of Commerce and Business Administration. She worked as a secretary at UA’s College of Engineering where she met a young metallurgist with the Bureau of Mines next door. She and Edward Davis were married on December 18, 1959.
She was the historian and researcher on the genealogy of many different branches of the Pitts, Fair, Rutherford, Shedd and Davis families. In 1993, she wrote a book on the history of the Pitts family from Perry County and gathered letters for the book of her husband’s South Dakota family dating back to the late 1880s.
