David Santiago Vegas Jr., age 73, of Hughson, California, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, October 10, 2024. David was born in Oakland, California, to Marion Rose Amaro and David Santiago Vegas Sr.
A die-hard Raider fan, David truly embodied the spirit of Raider Nation. He loved fishing, playing lottery scratchers, and trying his luck at Black Oak Casino, where he won $10,000. Known for his sense of humor, he was the center of attention wherever he went. David was a proud Army Veteran; he had a passion for oldies music and never missed an opportunity to hit the dance floor.
Above all, David was a devoted family man. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always making time for family gatherings, friends and neighbors where laughter and love filled the air. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Linda Vegas, of Hughson, California; his daughter, Yolanda Patterson (Ronald Jr.), of Lathrop, California; and his son, Shawn Vegas (Jeanette Torres-Vegas), of Hughson, California. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Joseph Vegas, Larisa Patterson, Daja Patterson, Ronald Patterson III, Angelo Vegas, Jasmine Delgado, Savonna Vegas, Janessa Torres-Vegas, and his great-grandchildren; Elias Vegas, Audrina Ring-Vegas, Armani Vegas, Elyana Huerta-Baires, Ronald Patterson IV, Amiri Patterson, Paisley Vegas.
David's light will shine brightly in the family he leaves behind. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on in our hearts, guiding us with love and cherished memories. He will be missed but never forgotten.
David was preceded in death by his father, David Santiago Vegas Sr., and his mother, Marion Rose Amaro.
