Vonda Coulter was born on December 9th, 1944, to Alethea and John Hicks. She was born in Tacoma WA and grew up in Yelm until they moved to Tacoma where she attended Wilson High school. George Coulter was born on November 11, 1939, to George and Eunice Coulter in Montana. Vonda met the love of her life, George Coulter, while she still lived in Yelm. Vonda was thirteen years old when she met the handsome 18-year-old George outside of the Yelm movie theater. They dated for three years before they married. George and Vonda lived in Tacoma where they began their family. They raised four daughters, Debbie, Diane, Donna, and Denise there for many years until finally making their way back to Yelm. Vonda was a homemaker and the best mother to their four girls while George had a very successful career as a salesman, first for Electrolux then later as a car salesman. The couple spent their life surrounded by what mattered the most to them, family. They loved being with their grandchildren and watching them grow. As their girls married off and they entered their retirement years, George and Vonda were lucky to be involved in their grandchildren’s lives. The memories that they have made with each, and every grandchild will be treasured memories for sure. As Georges health began to fail, his new mode of transportation was his electric scooter. He was often seen around Yelm making his rounds. He had a soft spot for the homeless in Yelm and was a daily visitor to them offering them a pastry, water, and a cigarette. Vonda would make sure his basket was full of goodies before he set out every day.
Vonda’s three brothers preceded her in death as did her parents. George is survived by his three brothers, a sister, and was preceded in death by his parents.
George and Vonda lost their daughter Debbie in 2006 and are survived by their daughters Diane (Gary) Caughlin, Donna (Jeff) McCann, and Denise (Frank) Swetz, their grandson they raised Chris Coulter of the home and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
