Tracy Wayne Colard passed away on March 20, 2019. He had just celebrated his 68th birthday with his family on March 9th. Tracy graduated from Ocosta High School in 1971. His Ocosta basketball team won the state championship that year. He played basketball and football at Grays Harbor College.
Tracy worked with his father-in-law Bill Kelly at Grays Harbor P.U.D. and went on to work as utilities manager for the city of Ellensburg and Mason County until he retired in 2013. His dedication to his work and co-workers earned him the WA PUD Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a volunteer fire fighter for McCleary for many years. He also coached many youth baseball teams and basketball teams, including at Elma High School. He was known for his calm, respectful and candid style of coaching. In his spare time, Tracy enjoyed playing cards, working in his shop, and riding on his new tractor. He was a loyal friend that loved no matter what. He was willing to listen or help any way he could and he was never short of a sarcastic remark.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents Barb and Jim Colard and sister Judy Engel. He was raised in Aberdeen and Westport. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Sue (Kelly) Colard and his brother Dan Colard and wife Susan.
Tracy’s children, Kevin Colard and his wife Mindy; Kelly Dykstra and her husband Greg; and Katie Colard and her fiancé Sean will miss his unconditional love, support and fatherly advice. His family lived and breathed sports, and basketball was his passion. Many hours were spent traveling to watch his kids play wherever they happened to be. His NCAA bracket was filled out and ready for March Madness 2019.
He loved his granddaughters, Demi, Danya, Daylin, and Drea Dykstra and Chloe Colard. Tracy called them his own girls basketball team. He was also very excited about his first baby grandson on the way.
The Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 6, at 4:00pm at the McCleary VFW Hall.
