Sheldon Albertis Canopy, age 84, of Tumwater, Washington, passed away after a two-year battle with throat cancer on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. He was born in New Richmond Wisconsin, on July 21,1940, to Gillard and Hazel Canopy, the first of five boys.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and spent much of his career as a truck driver. He had a love for old cars and working on them with Cory. He enjoyed reupholstery, often repairing furniture for himself and others. He also enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin to see his beloved family.
He is survived by his children: Kay Leisch (Dale) of Osceola, WI; Holly Matter of Dresser, WI; Cory Canopy of Tumwater, WA and Terri Canopy of Tumwater, WA. His memory is also honored by his brothers: Bruce (Maurine), Lausen (Kim), David, and Kevin (Connie); along with 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, and his daughter Debbie.
A celebration of life will be held next summer in Wisconsin.
Arrangements are being handled by Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Tumwater, Washington.
