John Floyd Beckett, Jr. passed away at his home in Olympia on Sunday, August 24, 2014 with friends and family at his side. John was born in Verdun, France on July 26, 1959 to John and Jennie (Westphal) Beckett.
John attend school in Sound Bend and graduated with the Class of 78. John became an Eagle Scout and an EMT at age 18 while volunteering at the Raymond Fire Department. He also went to Boys State in 1977. After graduation he joined the Navy and received his training as a psychiatric technician. He worked as a California State employee in Napa, California from 1982 to 2004, retiring on a disability.
He was predeceased by his father and his dog, Precious. He is survived by his wife Denise, his daughter, Tami Beckett of South Bend, Washington, his son Jesse Beckett in Texas, his stepson Andrew Johnson of Denver, Colorado, his mother Jennie Beckett of Reno, Nevada, two sisters Wendi Rasler (Robert) of Ocean Shores, Washington and Pamela Strom of Reno, Nevada, and brother Lloyd Beckett (Sheila) of South Bend, Washington and five nieces.
John loved sports - baseball, football (Seattle Seahawks), the outdoors (fishing) and his family.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 30th at 11:00 am at the Foursquare Church, 220 C Street, Tumwater, Washington. Inurnment services with full military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA at a later date.
Services are under the direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
