While a freshman in high school Cheryl had won a dance contest at school and was on American Bandstand 1960, her and her dance partner Franklin Kirk won first prize, her family were able to watch her on TV.
She graduated from Watsonville High School and her first real job was at Wrigleys Gum Factory while she attended college. At 20 years old with only a few dollars in her pocket and a back pack she hitchhiked 65 miles to Height Ashbury to join the "love in" and made San Francisco her home. She was a holistic eater and studied astrology, along with business. After graduation from college she worked as a bank assistant at Unified California Bank, she married and bought her first home overlooking ocean in Pacifica. For ten years she dedicated herself to the bank and marriage until divorce. She then went back to school to become a real estate broker, because of her empathy and compassion and really trying to understand what her clients wants and needs, she excelled. She had 3 other brief unsuccessful marriages.
She met Michael, the love of her life in 1987, they have been together for 35 years. She retired from the money market after a significant car accident and head injury. In 1992 they moved to Washington and have lived at their home for the entire time. She returned to college and pursued writing and became quite prolific in poetry and always wrote eloquent letters even for simple birthdays. She could meet someone once and know them deeply and hear a name once and remember it. Her pursuit of wisdom in her life experiences was something she was very proud of.
Cheryl spent her life being compassionate, an excellent judge of character, loyal, non judgemental, excellent auntie, sister, partner and friend. She is survived by her partner of 35 years, Michael James Miller, her sister Marilyn, 2 nephews, 2 nieces, 4 great nephews, and 1 great niece.
