Carl was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and brother. He served in the U.S. Army as a Helicopter Mechanic and Sharpshooter during the Korean Conflict 1962 to 1965 with an honorable discharge. He was a member of The Fun Time Four Wheelers Jeep Club out of Rainier Washington which gave his kids the love of mud & jeeps. A Mechanic, Millwright and Truck Driver retiring from Miles Sand & Gravel in 2006 as a plant operator.
Carl is survived by his wife of 53 years Sharon Black. His children Lisa Black who preceded him in death, Kelli Black, Carl Black with wife Carmen and Amy Capperilli with husband Shawn. Grand children Aaron Black, Kristie Mckinley with husband Mike, Curtis Larson, Heather Terry-Cox with husband Will, Justin Frans, Charlie Black and Haylee Capperilli along with numerous great grandchildren. Brothers Wayne Black, Glen Zillyette and Guy Zillyette, and sister Arlis Black who preceded him in death.
Carl was a tinkerer, always building something and modifying everything. Hot glue and duct tape could fix it all. If you needed it repaired, he was your man but you always got back spare parts! Wife Sharon says “He was my best friend and life partner; he was always there for me and gave me everything I wanted within reason. He gave me the greatest most loving children anyone could ever ask for. I will love him always.” His son Carl says “He taught me how to work on cars and trucks and how to be a good man. He was a great teacher.” Grandson Aaron says “He made friends everywhere he went and always had a smile. He was the greatest grandfather/dad anyone could possibly have.” Daughter Amy says “His slightly sarcastic sense of humor was his best characteristic and what I loved most about him. His jokes and laugh always made my day. I’m glad I inherited this part of him.” Daughter Kelli says “I love dad very much; he is my hero. He taught me so much growing up. I will never forget the jeep races or the wagoneer!! Go Lisa and Dad. NOW you can race each other!
