Born on May 12, 1938, in Council Bluffs, IA, Betty was the beloved daughter of Jacob and Gladys Eicher. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Naomi Eicher, Orie Sullivan, Ruth Meyer, and Virgina Eddy, as well as her brother, William Henry Eicher.
Betty married on Oct 12, 1963, to Milton Wallis. She divorced and moved to Washington in Feb 1976 to be closer to her sister and mother and father. She received her GED in 1976 and went on to work at Thurston County Medical Bureau as a claims adjuster and later a supervisor before she retired in 2003.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family members, including her brother, Ivan (Delores) Eicher of Omaha Nebraska, her son, Cruzan Wallis of Lacey, WA, and her daughter, Lisa (Jim) Kelly of Maple Valley, WA. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory.
Betty was a woman of many wonderful qualities. She was known for her loving and loyal nature, always showing compassion to those around her. Her hard work ethic was admired by all, and her sense of humor brought joy to those in her presence. Betty had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her grand dogs: Drum, Smokey, Bailey, Riley, and Finley, and found solace in their companionship.
In her free time, Betty enjoyed various hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. She found delight in scrapbooking, capturing cherished memories, and creating beautiful keepsakes. She loved to read books and her bible. She loved music and enjoyed playing her piano and singing hymns for most of her life.
Betty’s unwavering faith was an important aspect of her life. She was dedicated to living for God, finding solace and guidance in her beliefs. She remained faithful until the end.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Betty’s life is planned at Mills & Mills in Tumwater, WA on August 25, 2023. Friends, family, and all those whose lives were touched by Betty are invited to attend and pay their respects.
Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, loyalty, and compassion will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who carry her memory in their hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
