Ruben Rios Orantez, 50, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 16, 2022. Ruben showed tremendous strength and courage in all of life’s challenges and stayed strong until the end.
Ruben was born on October 28, 1971, in Tucson, Arizona to Ismael “Eddie” and Alice Rios Orantez. Ruben shared a beautiful life with his loving wife Amy. Ruben will always be remembered as a loving but tough dad to his three beautiful children, Niesa “Anita” (Rudy), Ruben Dallas “Ru”, and Abriana “Chanchi”. He is a beloved grandfather to his two beautiful granddaughter’s Victoria his “Tori girl” and Dallas his “bestest friend.” Ruben loved and was beloved by his four brothers, Ismael Jr. “E”, Rene, Fernando (Patsy), George, and sister, Ericka, along with his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph Orantez Sr. and Maria Mendivil, his maternal grandparents Richard Sr. and Eva Rios, uncle’s Eddie and Ron Rios, and parent in law’s Narciso and Anita Villarreal.
Ruben was an athlete and never let us forget how good he was. He grew up with his brother’s playing baseball and basketball. Some of his fondest memories are from his childhood with his parents and siblings at the ballpark.
Ruben loved to coach softball and baseball and shaped many young lives with his coaching skills. Ruben loved watching sports, but especially loved his Dallas Cowboys.
He will be remembered by his amazing laugh, his friendly, fun loving, caring, supportive, and energetic spirit. But most of all his ability to make us laugh.
Ruben, we will love you always and forever! May you rest in heavenly peace!
Visitation will be held for family and friends at South Lawn on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Augustine Cathedral with Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
