Rita Pederson, a beloved mother, a fierce, beautiful soul, and a source of strength for those who were blessed enough to be part of her life, passed away on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends. Born on August 25th, 1946 to Rita DesRoches, and later adopted by her husband Jim DesRoches–a man she came to view as her father, Rita grew up to embody the virtues of resilience, compassion, and independence.
Rita's journey through life was marked by her unwavering determination and unyielding spirit. Starting as a janitor in the copper mines of Phelps Dodge, she defied odds and shattered gender barriers to ascend to the position of crane operator, a testament to her tenacity and solid work ethic. Her rise through the ranks was not just a personal triumph but an inspiration to all who knew her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rita's true legacy lies in her compassionate heart and generous soul. She was a beacon of kindness, always extending a helping hand to those in need–family, friends and strangers alike. Rita’s selflessness impacted the lives of those she touched, and her love for others reverberated through her simple acts of kindness and support.
Rita was a devoted mother to her daughter Sandra Fimbres and younger son Jose Fimbres, Jr. Rita cherished her family above all else and dedicated herself to their well-being with unwavering love and devotion. Her sister Pat was a cherished part of Rita’s life, and their bond remained unbreakable. Her spiritual journey will now take Rita to join her recently deceased older son Rick Fimbres, cherished friends Edna and Gilbert Fisher, Eusebio (Chevo) Fimbres, and beloved niece Sonora.
A woman of strong convictions, Rita was never afraid to speak her mind. Her words carried weight, but they were rooted in her unique perspective and experience. Beneath her strength lay a heart of gold, capable of immense love and tenderness. Though she may have left this world, her legacy of unconditional love will endure through the memories she created and the lives she touched. In honoring Rita Pederson's memory, let us carry forward her legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May Rita rest in eternal peace.
