Raymond moved to Tucson when he was a teenager. He attended Catalina High School before going to the U of A where he majored in Psychology and Electrical Engineering. Before completing his Engineering degree he enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent his 4 years in Okinawa and California. After his time in the service he returned to Tucson to complete his education. During his years at the U of A he was employed by Bank One (now Chase Bank). After graduation he was hired by the US Government Dept. of Defense working in Intelligence and Electronic Warfare at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, where he worked for many years. He also spent a short time employed by Hughes Missile Systems (now Raytheon).
He met and married Sharon Boyd in 1970 and had one son Raymond III. Their family increased by a daughter-in-law Roxanna, a step grandson Sean, and two granddaughters, Bella and Olivia. He is survived by his wife, son & family, Sister Sandra Lewis and many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as several Sisters and Brothers In Law.
Raymond loved being with his family, even spent time assisting the grandkids with school projects. He was an avid U of A sports fan; and had a great sense of humor. He also had a super green thumb and grew and processed his own olives. He loved to cook and try out new recipes. He was very patriotic and loved this country.
We miss him dearly.
Graveside memorial service, with military honors will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:30 pm at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
