Randolph K. Decker “Randy”passed away July 27, 2018 at his home in Tucson Arizona. Randy, a gentle spirit, was born January 23, 1963, in Long Beach California, the youngest son of Forrest and Mona (Ferrie) Decker who proceed him in death. Also proceeding him in death are his two siblings Patricia (Decker) Baucom and William Decker. After graduating as valedictorian of his senior high school class in Lakewood California, Randy earned his bachelor’s degree from National University in 1986. He worked many years in business/sales in Long Beach, California, Reno, Nevada, and Seattle, Washington. Randy always had a heart for politics running for local office in Lakewood Ca in his mid 20’s. Randy later moved to Tucson where he became very involved in the community both is politics and as an advocate for many cases close to his heart.
Randy was very active on Rincon’s Justice and Witness Ministry Team and Church Council. He also was a well-known and respected activist, participating in the annual AIDS Walk, Tucson Interfaith HIV and AIDS Network (TIHAN), the Tucson AIDS Ribbon, and Indivisible Arizona. Randy loved politics, live theater and concerts, spending time with good friends and family, protesting injustice, and promoting welcoming, healthy, and safe spaces for all people.
Randy is survived by Shawn Hansen, his partner and companion of 22 years, along with many friends and family members who will greatly miss him.
Randy’s Celebration of Life is planned for August 18, 2018, 10:00am at his church, Rincon Congregational United Church of Christ. 122 N. Craycroft, Tucson, Arizona 85711
