“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness..” 2 Timothy 4:6-8.
Judy Gail Williams Harris was born November 10, 1945, to Francis Williams and Amos Anderson in Pineville, Louisiana. At an early age, her PaPa (mother’s father) took her to church where she learned of Christ. Judy attended Rapides Parish Schools until her mother and her stepfather (Henry Williams) moved to Tucson, Arizona. In Tucson she attended public schools and went on to earn an associate’s degree in business. In 1976 Judy started driving for Sun Tran, the City of Tucson public transit system; a true labor of love in Judy’s eyes. Judy loved serving the public and did so much good in the way she treated her passengers, co-workers and anyone else she encountered along Route 27. She gave 42 years of service to Sun Tran until her health started to fail her. Judy married her best friend, Leroy A. Harris in 1994. They shared 23 years of marriage and over 40 years of friendship.
Those preceding her in death are her mother, stepfather, biological father and two brothers. She leaves to remember her husband LeRoy A. Harris, her two daughters, Tonya Hardin of Tucson, AZ, Nicholle Harris of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Lofton Ben Williams and Willie L. Hardin, Jr., both of Tucson, AZ; two brothers, Dewey and Thomas; five sisters, Darlene, Arlene, Sonya, Betty and Tonette; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her Sun Tran family.
We would like to thank the countless family members and friends who sent love, prayers, flowers and cards. Your kind expression of sympathy and friendship will always remain in our memories. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the medical professionals at Tucson Medical Center, Unit 700 and Hospice Family Care for the compassionate care they provided to Judy. We are forever grateful to God for her life, your friendship and for your kindness and prayers.
