John Marvin “JT” Turner, 78, of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 20, 2017 surrounded by the love of family and friends. John was born October 25, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John Theo and Vera (Doak) Turner. John served our country in the U.S. Army from June of 1958 to May of 1964 when he received an Honorable Discharge. John spoke proudly about his service in an armor division on the Iron Curtain in Germany. John was an “old school” construction man starting his career as a water boy, carpenter’s apprentice and carpenter. With no formal college education, John became a licensed general contractor and worked his way up in the construction industry. His career culminated as a Senior Construction Manager with WCI’s Tower Division in Miami, Florida, where he was responsible for the executive oversight of the construction of several high-rise resort and condominium projects on Miami Beach. John is survived by his two sons, Jamie Turner and his wife Jennifer of Tucson, AZ; Justin Turner and his girlfriend Jewell Lee Cozort of San Antonio, TX; his daughter Johnna Weise and her husband Ken Weise of Plantation, FL; four granddaughters, Taylor and Shannon Crehan, and Marin and Rylee Turner; his brother, Paul Turner of Oklahoma City; and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Vera, and his sister Elaine. At his request no formal services will be conducted. Celebrations of life will be held in Tucson, South Florida, and San Antonio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
