John Paul Blagg

John Paul Blagg, 32, was born on August 21st, 1990 in Tucson, AZ to Steven Blagg and Korina Crosby-Simpson. He lived his childhood in Tucson, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. John eventually found his way to Mt. Vernon, Illinois where he lived with his grandmother Delores Blagg.

From a young age, John was very intelligent, with a witty sense of humor. He definitely knew how to get you to laugh. He had a sense of fashion, especially with shoes, ok…maybe all clothing. He was a fan of football, he loved the Raiders and was so excited when they made the move to Las Vegas. He shared a love of baseball with his father. They both loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed video games, wrestling, watching Marvel movies, Iron Man was his favorite. His favorite pastime was skateboarding, he and his cousins bonded over this as young kids. He enjoyed a good meal and cake! He was the kid that always wanted to blow out the birthday candles even when it wasn’t his birthday. He was so specific about his hair, and when it became too long he disliked it because his Mom would always tell him he was a “grumpy guy” with long hair. He was a protector of those he loved dearly and would do anything for them.

He had a way with words, and was thoughtful with his words. Could spell any word and always teased his sister at her not so good spelling skills. His laugh and smile was goofy and infectious. Especially when around those closest to him. It was easy to see why he was loved by everyone he chose to call his friend and family. He was especially close with his sister and cousins, Thomas and Andrew growing up. They all become like brothers and sisters when Thomas and Andrew moved in with them even though they were cousins. John was so much more than a son, grandson, brother, nephew, partner, and father. He was someone who loved big and cared with his whole heart.

His life was far too short to fully reach it’s potential, and he definitely struggled with his own demons. However, it didn’t take away from the person he truly was and the love he had to give.

He gifted us with his sweet Son, Samiel, who will now only know John through our love and memories, which we will never let him forget.

John passed away on December 23rd, 2022 at 11:58pm after 3 long weeks trying so hard to survive. He entered into eternal life with his Mom Korina, Aunt Gina, Cousin Andrew “Bonus Little brother”, Grandmother Delores Blagg, Grandfather “Papa Joe”, Grandfather Rosario Felix, Aunt Nancy Crawford, Aunt Dorthy Sinks, and Uncle Jim Sinks.

John you are missed so much already, you were a lot more to us than you probably ever knew! We will love you always and cherish every memorable moment you gifted us here on earth.

John is survived by his Son, Samiel Blagg, bonus daughter Leandra McDaniel. He is also survived by his father Steven Blagg, his sister Stephanie Walker, long time partner Shana Littrell, Grandmother Sandra Rossler, Step-grandfather Manuel Dominguez, Aunt(s) Sandra Laudonio (Frank) Raquel Shaw (Aaron), Uncle Manny Dominguez, Step-father Dennis Simpson, Bonus brother Thomas Lopez (Joyce Vitug), Cousin Luke Crawford (Rebecca), Uncle Paul Crawford, and many many cousins, family members, and friends.
