Hernandez Sr, Jesse G, 80 died Monday, December 20, 2021. Preceded in death by mother, Angela de la Cruz, brother, Henry Hernandez, sisters, Regina Ramona “Porky” Godinez Gay, and Cecilia Godinez Kennedy Survived by brother, Rene Martinez, sisters, Becky de la Cruz Godinez, Irene (Carl) DiMaggio, Martha Godinez, Artimesa Wright; sons, Jesse (Dawne) Hernandez, Jr, David J Hernandez, Sr; daughters, Barbra Loraine Durazo, Jessica (Darren) Sherva, Mary Diana (Michael) Ahumada; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Jesse was born October 28, 1941 in Phoenix, AZ but spent his childhood in Bisbee, AZ and graduated from Bisbee High School. Immediately after graduation, Jesse joined the US Navy, and was proud to serve his country. After leaving the Navy, he worked at both Copper Queen and San Manuel mines. He was actively involved in men’s softball for 40 years. Jesse main hobby was building model kit airplanes and some of his completed works were showcased at Ace Hobby Store and Pima Air Museum. He was a dedicated family man and always supported his children. Jesse was known for showing up at every party and making everyone feel special, his karaoke skills and sense of humor. Jesse was a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Diamondbacks, and loved watching every football and baseball game. There is so much more that can be said about this great man that it would fill a wall of books. He is, and will always be loved and missed dearly. His family is confident that we will see him again. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of all Saints, 2915 E. 36th Street, Tucson, AZ 85713. Interment following Church Services - South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
