Helen Amelia Baker, 94, was born in Greenwood, Wisconsin on November 2, 1929. She passed away in Tucson, Arizona on November 5, 2023. Helen moved to Tucson in 1952 with her husband, Sidney Paul (deceased 2012) her daughter, Valjean, and son, Rodney (deceased 1996). Helen and Paul were married in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1946. She was 16 and Paul was 23 he had been home from WWII for only 18 months.
Helen accepted the Lord as a teenager and was a true Christian that loved the Lord and shared with anyone she met about her beliefs. So many people will be with her in heaven because she was never afraid to share the plan of salvation. She attended Tanque Verde Baptist Church in 1955 she was Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Then in 1961 attended Tucson Baptist Temple and taught Sunday School for many years. In 2023 attended Grace Community Church with daughter.
Helen and Paul were members of the Southern Arizona Fiddlers Association where each week they would travel 28 miles one way to enjoy all their friends while Paul played Guitar/Fiddle and Helen sang the old-time country and gospel songs. They also traveled to Assisted Care Homes with others entertaining the people that lived there.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Valjean Lloyd. Her sister, Milly Murphy.
Preceded in death by husband Sidney Paul and son Rodney Baker, grandson Skyles Baker. Also, her parents Alma and Skyles Carruthers, sisters Verla Jones and Dorthy Lewis.
She was blessed with 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, 9 great grandsons and 14 great granddaughters, 2 great great grandsons and 2 great great granddaughters and 9 nieces and 10 nephews.
