Frederick Alexander Hayes born February 25, 2000 and tragically taken from us August 21, 2021. He was known as Alex to his family and Fred to his friends, he grew up in J-6 Ranch and attended the Vail School District. He went to Andrada Polytechnic High School to participate in their Auto Mechanics program. He had a passion for vehicles, especially Jeeps, and obtained his A.S.E. Certification well before graduating.
During Alex’s senior year, he interned with Jim Click Automotive Group after school and on Saturdays. Upon graduation, Jim Click Automotive hired him for a full-time position. Although he loved working for Jim Click, with his large hands, he found it difficult working in small, compact engine compartments. Friends informed Alex of a job opening at a diesel repair shop in early 2021. He applied, and was hired immediately. Though Alex only worked there for a short time, the owners and his fellow employees were impressed with his work ethic and his desire and willingness to learn.
Alex’s passing has left a huge void in our lives. Visiting with two of his friends, Colton and Cody, we are encouraged that Alex’s short life was not in vain. He was eager to help others when he was needed. On his days off, Alex could be found working on Mom’s, Dad’s, or friends vehicles. We are missing his beautiful smile, quick wit, big hugs, and just being with him. His beautiful heart brightened and touched everyone that was blessed enough to know and love him.
Alex is survived by his parents, Fred and Christa, his grandmothers, Bonnie and Nicki. Also his special girlfriend, Bryanna, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be joining his grandfathers Fred and Greg, and his Aunt Marcy. Special thanks to family, friends, and coworkers in their efforts to find the person responsible for our grief. Also, we would like to thank Andrada High School and Jim Click Automotive for their support of those students who choose not to attend college, but instead go to trade school.
Much appreciation to his friends at Top-Notch Diesel for being with Alex at the scene. We are so grateful that he was not alone.
We will be celebrating Alex’s life on Saturday, September 4th at 10:00 am at East Lawn Cemetery. Reception to follow at Andrada High School, 12960 S. Houghton Rd. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, we are in the process of establishing a foundation in Alex’s name through Andrada High School, where he found his passion. More details will be provided once the foundation is set up.
If you would like to make a donation in Fred's honor, a special account has been opened at Tucson Federal Credit Union. Please make the donation to Frederick Hayes. Account# 196706.
