He is survived by his loving and patient wife, Linda Baker, whom he met while eating at Guillermo’s Double L restaurant. Using his charming personality and good looks, he was able to wrangle her in and enjoy the next 27 years with her by his side.
He was brother to: Micaela Almeida (Beto Almeida ), Gilbert Cota-Robles (Cecilia), and Margarita Salaz. He was father to: Michael Cota-Robles, Sr (Marilin), Kathy Campuzano, Rachel J. Valenzuela and Michelle Corral (Frank “Butch”) and step-father to: Roxanna Gustafson (Eric) and Dean Coleman. He was grandpa to 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all who thought the world of him. He was also “favorite” uncle to many nieces and nephews that always held a special place in his heart.
He served his country as a Sergeant of the United States Army Reserves. After his honorable discharge, he began his career as a Sheetmetal tradesman from which he retired in 1998.
In addition to his (very) crazy sense of humor, Carlos will also be remembered for his love of old Westerns and lived his life the “cowboy way”. He loved feeding the animals on his “range”, which mainly consisted of rabbits and quail. He also had a passion for the sport of boxing and enjoyed participating in the sport as both a trainer and promoter. He would always bring out his boxing gloves to spar with his grandchildren and was so proud when his great-grandson expressed an interest in the sport.
Carlos was a man of integrity, strength, Faith and humor. He had a way of using these qualities to guide and encourage his family throughout life’s obstacles. He brought so much joy and laughter to all that were blessed to know him.
Daddy, thank you for making me laugh, drying my tears and being my source of strength. I was blessed to be your ‘lil partner in life. Love you love you forever and always.
