Bonnie M. Elliott, at the age of 94 years old passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024 at 11:59pm. She was born August 3, 1930 to Cicero and Esther Rakestraw and was raised in Palestine, Texas. At the age of 20 she met and married Daniel Elliott and together they raised 12 children, 10 girls and 2 boys: Bertha, Josephine, Joann, Christine, Juanita, Wayne, Linda, Pearl, Dyan, Kathy, Margaret, and Danny.
Some memories her children will always remember about her are when she would call each of her children and sing to them. By the way, she could carry a tune, and she didn't care that she sounded like a squirrel. It was from her heart! She had us laughing.
Bonnie would pick up her lip for a kiss and only the two of us would kiss her, the rest would kiss on the cheek or forehead.
She had a nickname, Mother Dearest, and she knew which one of the daughters it was, and she would just smile.
When Christmas came around it didn't matter how old we were, she would have Josie to get everyone a gift.
She never gave up on any of her children, she was in constant prayer for her children. She knew when any of us was in trouble.
She was so blessed to have spent her remaining time with her son, and she would tell him often. She would sneak and get herself some hot sauce, and say "you better not tell Wayne."
She loved being around her daughters, and she was a protector of all of her children, from the pulpit to the door. She had love for her children-in-law.
Bonnie M. Elliott accepted Christ under the Pastoral ship of Sally Cornell in 1969 and she had a personal calling through a dream, where the Lord said she was an usher in the House of the Lord. She served in that capacity for 30 years, under the leadership of Apostle Joyce J. Stevens. She fulfilled the role of Church Mother, and Intercessory Prayer Warrior, and she continued in that capacity to her last days here, at the Greater South Park Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Pastor Mitchell.
Proceeding her in death is Daniel (Husband) Elliott, Joella (Sister) Rakestraw, Bertha (John) Harper, Margaret (Daughter) Humphrey, Linda (Daughter) Hills, Dyan (Daughter) Minster, Justher (Sister) Kyle.
Bonnie leaves behind Josephine (Horace) Cox, Joann (John) Williams, Christine (Roy) Eason, Juanita Easley, Wayne (Patricia) Elliott, Pearl Elliott, Kathy Grigsby, Danny (Mary) Elliott, niece Mary Ervin, 42 grandchildren 86 great-grandchildren, 32 great great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed.
