Billie Louise Mixon

Billie was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 6, 1927 to John Henry and Ada Louise Babb Ratterree. She was the oldest of eight children. She was married to the man she loved more than anyone except Jesus - Charles Mixon - for 37 years until his passing in 1987.

Billie attended Arkansas State Teachers College, the University of Arizona, and Northeastern College where she achieved a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She taught all levels of school until the age of 87 when she finally retired as a reading teacher at Pima Community College. Billie also taught many years as a Sunday School teacher at her church and led Bible Studies. She was very passionate about reading her Bible every day and enjoyed giving her highlighted and noted Bibles to her friends and family.

Billie loved her family dearly. She is survived by her two daughters - Mary (Pat) Damiani and Carol Mixon, her siblings - Kay Schumacher , Betty Fenton , Griffie Ratterree,and Leslie Ratterree, her four grandchildren - Pamela (Derek) Allsup, Peter (Amber) Damiani, Alex Krendl and Nick Krendl and her six great grandchildren - Haley Allsup, Madison Allsup, Joshua Allsup, Kylie Damiani, Brayden Damiani, and Lyla Damiani, as well as many nieces, nephews, students and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings Donald, John D., and Gene Ratterree.

A celebration of life for Billie will be held at Thornydale Family Church, 10501 N. Thornydale Rd., Tucson, AZ on Saturday September 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. A brief reception will follow.
