We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend, Betty J. Henry on February 6, 2023. She was 88 years old. She was surrounded by her loved ones and passed away quietly at Peppy’s Hospice, Tucson, Arizona.
Betty was born to Miguel and Petrita Baca and was raised in Gallup, New Mexico. She came from a family of pioneers in the New Mexico territory.
As an adult she lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for many years where she raised her family. Her twilight years were spent in Tucson with her eldest daughter. Family was an important part of her life, and she was fiercely protective and loyal to those she loved. She was outspoken and passionate about life.
Bettys journey in life held many things. She loved gardening and spent many hours in her backyard tending her beautiful flowers and plants, which gave her the greatest pleasure. Her nature was very nurturing, and it showed in the plants she grew, the food she cooked and the people she loved.
She loved being outdoors whether it was out in the backyard, hiking in the Sandia Mountains or camping. She loved traveling and long rides in the car because the journey was better than the destination.
She enjoyed going to the casino, Las Vegas, watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys, shopping and long talks over coffee in her kitchen.
Betty’s sense of humor was infectious. She was funny and found humor in many things, she laughed often and with delight.
