Ann Marie (McGrath) Sheehan born March 5, 1932 in Ilion, New York, passed away on July 28, 2020 in Tucson, Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Edward (Eddie) Sheehan. She is survived by her children - Patricia, Timothy (Dale), Susan (Ahmad), Richard, Kathleen (Mark) and Terrence (Zayda), 11 grandchildren,1 great grandson and her sister, Barbara Giacino. Upon graduating from high school in Friendship, New York, she ventured to Buffalo where she completed nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York. While in nursing school, she met the handsome and charming Eddie. She and Eddie married in 1955. In 1961, she and Eddie moved across the country to Tucson, Arizona with three small children. Ann spent most of her professional time working as an emergency nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, where she retired in 1994. When she was not working or caring for her family she loved playing tennis, going to exercise classes at the YMCA, tap dancing as a member of a senior dance troupe, singing in a choir group, and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul. Another favorite pastime of Ann’s was attending her children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. One of her first adventures upon retiring, was cycling across Arizona, with her sister Barbara. Another love of Ann’s was sewing, especially quilts for family and friends. Ann was a loving, devoted, compassionate wife, mom, sister, aunt, friend and nurse. She had a warm smile, endless supply of energy, always positive and made a mean pot of chili beef!
The family will privately place her ashes next to Eddie’s. An apology to her many friends and family that could not be invited due to the pandemic. We will, however, have a later Celebration of Life, with all invited when it is safe for all to do so. Please come and celebrate with us then.
