Like the others who connected to Richard through cycling, I enjoyed the opportunity of chatting with him when we rode. He, like me, grew up in South Florida, so we also had that in common. 

While I didn't know him well, he seemed a nice, gentle soul. I regret that I will not have the pleasure of his company in the future.

I met Richard on a bike ride called "Jack's Lunch Ride". Richard would talk bikes all day if you wanted to listen . Which I was interested in. 

Later I moved to 'near Tucker', and found that Richard lived about 2 miles away. I would see him on his neighborhood streets, stop and chat. Last time he had got a new bike and we talked about kids, me having had some at an advanced age, his were pretty much out of the school game. 

We talked about Dekalb schools, eventually we parted and I guess I just figured I'd see him again over there, maybe I would have. I'll still look, anyway.


I also met Richard through cycling and he always gave me many tips on safe riding and the best/right way to clean my chain. Richard introduced me to many others on Jack’s Lunch Rides and always rode with me and shared many memories of his other rides. He was a wealth of knowledge and has been missed on our rides. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. Richard was such a good man. 

Richard was a good friend through cycling. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I love you dad and I miss you. You had a great life and touched many with your kindness, patience, and love. I will never forget your incredible drive and determination. Heaven has gotten a very strong, tough, determined angel. Please look over all of us from above.
