It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Paul Turner, 66, from a prolonged illness on July 23, 2022. He is survived by his children, Matthew Turner (Chrisy Johnson) and Kristin (Jacob) McCollum, granddaughter Sutton McCollum, nieces, Jo Ellen Nassif and Jennifer O’Kelley and nephew, Mitchell Johnson. He was preceded by his parents Jack Glenwood Turner and Vivian Funderburg Turner and his sister Barbara Turner Johnson. Richard is also survived by his former wife Kay Turner.
Richard was born on October 24, 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Decatur, Georgia where he met his best friend of 60 years, David Hagee. David visited him weekly during his illness and they maintained their close friendship through the years. After Richard graduated Avondale High School, he started working as an electrician. As years passed he moved his way through the industry finally starting his own company, R.P. Turner & Associates, a sales business. Richard leaves behind many good friends in the industry.
His main passions in life were his children, granddaughter, fishing and the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a wonderful and colorful story teller and kept all who knew him laughing.
In spite of his illness, Richard remained very positive. He always looked for the bright side of his situation keeping people around him uplifted.
His Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 1:00 at Floral Hills Funeral Home,
3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. There will be a reception immediately following at the facility.
