at the age of 91. Don was born in Dadeville, Alabama on September 16, 1930, to father Union
Sam Adams and mother Lavada Howell Adams. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Doris Adams; his
sons, Ken and Todd McCullough; his daughters, Kathy Schraub and Kimberly Bolling; his sister,
Betty Mordecai; and 10 grandchildren.
He grew up working hard on his family’s small farm and always had a strong work ethic,
Christian values, and a big heart. Everything he did, he put 110% of his strength, mind, and
heart into it. After serving proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he
went on to attend the University of Alabama and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha
Fraternity. In 1960, he earned a BS in Commerce & Business Administration. He was a proud
graduate of the University of Alabama and remained a Crimson Tide football fan his entire life.
After college, he went on to work 37 years for the railroad and worked his way up to
superintendent of service control for Norfolk Southern Railroad.
A visitation for Don is planned for Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 am at Floral Hills Funeral
